Bulgarian Olympic boxer Svetlana Staneva appeared so as to add gas to the gender eligibility firestorm on Sunday after a loss to Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ting within the ladies’s 57-kilogram division.

The Taiwanese boxer has been on the middle of a gender eligibility controversy. The Worldwide Boxing Affiliation (IBA) disqualified Lin from the 2023 world championships. The IBA president mentioned on the time Lin examined constructive for “XY chromosomes.” The IBA has defended its resolution, saying Lin was among the many boxers who had an unfair benefit.
With controversy swirling, Staneva appeared so as to add to it with a gesture following the loss. Staneva was seen pointing to herself and making an “X” along with her fingers. “What’s going on on this context within the social media with all this hate speech, with this aggression and abuse, and fueled by this agenda, is completely unacceptable.”
Bach maintained that each Khelif and Lin had been ladies.

“We have now two boxers who’re born as ladies, who’ve been raised as ladies, who’ve a passport as a lady and have competed for a few years as ladies,” he mentioned. “Some need to personal a definition of who’s a lady.”
