Croix Bethune can be sidelined for the remainder of the Nationwide Girls’s Soccer League season.
The 23-year-old was chosen by the Washington Spirit in January’s NWSL Draft. She has 5 targets and 10 assists in 17 video games this season and took the mound forward of the Washington Nationals’ sport in opposition to the New York Yankees late final month to threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Bethune appeared to grimace barely as she walked off the mound.

One week later, the Spirit introduced the rookie tore the meniscus in her knee “away from coaching.” She’s going to rehab the damage, however she won’t get well in time to compete in any of the membership’s remaining 9 video games of the 2024 season.

“She had an issue making the primary pitch within the baseball sport,” Spirit coach Jonatan Giráldez stated after the match. “She will not be going to be accessible this season. It’s a part of life. It’s important to maintain going.”

Bethune was honored alongside Spirit teammates and fellow Olympians Trinity Rodman, Casey Krueger and Hal Hershfelt at Nationals Park Aug. 28.
