Mystik Dan, the winner of the one hundred and fiftieth operating of the Kentucky Derby, will maintain alive the prospect of seeing one other Triple Crown winner after coach Kenny McPeek confirmed Saturday that the three-year-old colt will race within the Preakness Stakes subsequent weekend.
McPeek Racing made the announcement per week from the 149th operating of the second leg of the Triple Crown, which takes place at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore on Could 18.

“Mystik Dan is properly and acts like he’ll be able to run within the Preakness. I’ve mentioned the choice with homeowners Lance Gasaway, Daniel Hamby, Brent Gasaway and Scot Hamby, and we plan to run Could 18th,” McPeek mentioned in an announcement.

“The colt’s had a great week. He’ll journey to Baltimore Sunday.”
McPeek additionally confirmed that jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. will journey Mystik Dan within the race.
“He did not win the Derby with out the job Brian did. I am thrilled Brian is lastly getting the credit score he deserves.”

Mystik Dan gained the Kentucky Derby in true photo-finish style. It was simply the tenth Kentucky Derby determined by a nostril — the closest margin in horse racing — and the primary since 1996.
McPeek final gained the Preakness in 2020 with filly Swiss Skydiver.
